Spiritual Marks

I was inspired by an image of an aboriginal man and his painted forehead. I then got to thinking; what other ways do we mark our foreheads? I am wondering if I should leave the faces simplified or if I should add more detail within the faces?What do you think of the composition?

Book Marks

For this piece I printed out passages from many books that call people to hate and violence; the Bible, the Koran, The Prince, The Art of War, The Red Book, Mein Kamf, and Communist Manifesto. I even used the Declaration of Independence. I then saw this striking image of a girl in a refuge camp. I tore up these printed pages and created her face from them. I have birds but I want you to be unsure if they are doves or crows. The background is very textural with sand and stones in the paint. A small black book is raining pages down on the girl.  My question is the same as for the Weeping Angel. I have an image in the painting that is a bit hidden. Do you know what it is? Here is a hint; it is an image from a war zone.Let me know what you see.

Mark 2

Here is the second small piece. This one is inspired by the Venus de Willeldorf. I included a drawing of Buddha as lotus and a hand from the caves.I modernized her with the iridescent blue and tiny glitter stars.

First in A Month of Marks

Hello,
    I have all these 4"X4" canvas boards and I am doing one a day and posting. This one involves what I feel would be the very first mark made, our handprint.

Beauty Marks

I couldn't find a mirror so I made my own. The only concern I have now is the green silhouette on the left. Does it read like a face? Should I add more detail to it? I was going to add Maori face markings. What are your thoughts on that?
